Scam and Fraud Alert
Gulf Drilling International Limited (GDI) is aware that individuals and organisations sometimes falsely use our name, or claim to work for, represent or be affiliated with GDI, in order to commit fraud. These approaches take many forms and are designed to obtain money, goods or personal information. They may use our name, logo and company seals, and forged signatures and contact details, so that they appear genuine. GDI is not involved in any such activity and accepts no responsibility or liability for any loss or damage arising from the actions of unauthorised third parties.
This page sets out the types of fraud most often carried out in our name and explains how to protect yourself. If you have doubts about the authenticity of any communication, do not respond. Verify or report it using the contact details below.
Types of scams and fraud
The fraud we most commonly see carried out in our name falls into the following categories:
Recruitment fraud
Fake job offers and recruitment approaches that ask the recipient to transfer money – for example, for work permits, visas, or administrative fees – or to hand over personal and financial details.

Fake websites and impersonation
Websites, email addresses and phone numbers set up to imitate GDI, or to pass off another company as connected to GDI, using our name, logo and images. GDI’s only official website is www.gdi.com.qa. Read the full notice.
Reporting a suspected scam
If you receive a communication you believe to be fraudulent, please do not respond to it or make any payment. Forward the message, as an attachment, to recruitment.group@gdi.com.qa. GDI will review the report and take appropriate action.
Recruitment Fraud Warning
Gulf Drilling International Limited (GDI) is aware that individuals and organisations sometimes falsely claim to work for, represent or be affiliated with GDI in order to carry out recruitment scams.
These scams typically involve fake job offers or recruitment approaches, often made by email, messaging apps or social media. These fake communications are crafted so that they are made to look like they originate from GDI. For example, they may contain our logo and name, a replica of GDI company seals, and fake signatures and e-mail contact details. Respondents who express an interest are then asked to transfer money.
GDI will never ask candidates or applicants to pay any fee or transfer any money at any stage of recruitment, whether for work permits, visas, insurance, travel, medical checks or administrative fees.
GDI advertises vacancies only through the Join Us section of our official website [www.gdi.com.qa]. Recruitment communications come only from our official e-mail recruitment.group@gdi.com.qa and candidates are interviewed before any offer is made.
If you are unsure about the authenticity of a communication:
- Do not respond to unsolicited business propositions and/or job offers from people or e-mail addresses you do not know or trust.
- Do not disclose your personal or financial details to anyone you do not know or trust or on a website you do not trust. Should you have disclosed such information, please consider reporting the incident to your local law enforcement.
- Check the sender’s address carefully. Fraudsters often use free webmail accounts (such as yahoo.com) and lookalike domains that imitate ours by adding or altering a letter or a word. Other warning signs include poor use of English and requests for money.
- If you receive a request to provide banking details for payment to GDI, do not respond to the email, click any links, or provide information over the telephone. Instead, contact your usual GDI representative directly – using the contact details you already hold, not those in the suspicious message – to confirm whether the request is legitimate.
